1988 Lamborghini Countach

Seller's description

Italian title
- 29 000 kms from new, sold new in Switzerland
- Fully serviced by Toni Sisinni
- A real road-going spaceship with a unique design
- One of the first four Quattrovalvole
Despite its spectacular good looks, when the final version of the Miura, the SV, was presented to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971, it was eclipsed by its neighbour on the Lamborghini stand, the Countach LP 500 prototype. The first production Countach appeared at the Geneva Motor Show in 1973. It evolved mechanically and aesthetically over the years, and the Countach 5000 QV was produced between 1985 and 1988, the date of the 25th Anniversary Countach edition.
The example on offer was sold new in Switzerland in 1988. It left for Italy in the 1990s where it was acquired by the current owner, a serious marque enthusiast, bought through a dealer in Bassano del Grappa. The car was sent directly to the renowned Lamborghini specialist Toni Sisinni (Automobiles TS), near Paris, to undergo a full and thorough service (around 18,000 of invoices in the file). This included taking the engine out, replacing the entire clutch mechanism, the engine mounts and majority of hoses, adjustment of the fly wheel and the suspension, cleaning of the carburettors and jets, repair of the brake calipers...in short, everything that needed doing to this Countach was done. During the car's extended stay in his workshop, Toni Sissini noticed several unusual details on this Quattrovalvole, such as the oil cooler, which was positioned in the right front wing (factory fitted), whereas it was normally placed in the rear left wing on this model. Also, the chassis number (factory stamped) was not in the usual position for this model. After checking with his contacts at Lamborghini, he discovered that this was without a doubt one of the first four examples of the 5000 Quattrovalvole, delivered with these particular characteristics. Additionally, the letter in the chassis number is easy to read, and the G corresponds to the year 1985. If the chassis had been from 1988, the corresponding letter would have been J. This is therefore a very interesting Countach historically. The interior is splendid, the red leather seats in excellent condition and the red carpets superb. The odometer records 29 000 km, which is certainly the original mileage, confirmed by Toni Sissini.
The Countach, in addition to the pleasure it offers at the wheel, represents an excellent investment, sought after by a clientle in their 40s, currently very active and becoming more so as the means to acquire their childhood dreams increases. There is no other car resembling this road-going spaceship. It is an ode to the Italian automobile and undoubtedly the most beautiful creation of Marcello Gandini while at Bertone.
