In 1988 Porsche launched the 911 with the type designation ‘964’ as a successor to the ‘G’ model. In contrast to its predecessor, the 964 received many innovations such as power steering and ABS. The model range of the 964 was very varied: it was offered as Carrera 2, Carrera 4, Speedster, Turbo and Turbo 3.6. The first three versions were all equipped with a flat-six four-stroke engine with 3600 ccm. Thus a performance of 184 kW (250 hp) at 6100 rpm could be achieved with a maximum torque of 310 Nm at 4800 rpm. The valve control was done by a single overhead camshaft at each cylinder bank. While all versions were available as coupé, targa and convertible, the Speedster was only offered as convertible and the Turbo only as coupé.
The accident free Porsche Carrera 964 Speedster offered here is a prototype, which is documented by a letter from Porsche Contact dated 27 May 2015. The vehicle is in an overall good and well-kept condition with only slight traces of use. Engine and transmission are in good order, there are no leakages. Body, interior, finish and glass parts are also in good condition. The rim of the right front wheel is slightly scraped.
