2005 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale

2005 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale

Seller's description

MODEL HISTORY

Based on the 360 Modena the Challenge Stradale was a limited production track day focused car that was used to homologate improvements to their GTC race car.
Focus at Ferrari was to improve the Modena’s track lapping performance and took inspiration from the then current 360 Challenge race car by concentrating on handling, braking, weight reduction and aerodynamics essentials for any out and out racing car.
Weighing in at just 20Kg more than the challenge race car and a huge 110Kg less than a standard Modena this resulted in a dramatic performance increase, add in ceramic brakes as standard taken directly from the Enzo, a 25bhp increase in power, aerodynamic improvements to the front bumper, side sills, rear engine lid and double rear end meant the Challenge Stradale lapped the Fiorano circuit 3.5 seconds faster than the Modena (the target for the Ferrari engineers was 2.5).
Straight line power and performance figure only differ marginally from the standard Modena (three tenth faster to 62 mph) on paper which makes it difficult to comprehend the staggering difference between the two cars and it’s only when the enthusiastic driver takes to the controls does the Challenge Stradale deliver through its feedback and responsiveness.
With a limited production run of sub 1300 cars worldwide combined with an incredible soundtrack and loyal fan following, the Challenge Stradale is an instant modern classic.

EQUIPMENT

Blu Mirabeau, Crema-Blue Leather interior, Factory Stripe, Shields, Becker Factory radio, Rollbar, Extended Alcantara sill covers.

EXTERIOR

Covered in a rare and sensational shade of Blu Mirabeau this Challenge Stradale stands out from the rest. The glossy metallic shade of blue is complimented by a factory stripe lacquered onto the body along with Scuderia shields and yellow calipers, an incredibly smart colour combination all round that accentuates the smooth, sleek lines of the Pininfarina-designed bodywork.
The paintwork is excellent, swirl free with no signs of heavy track use or abuse. The Stradale, a model designated for the track but in this case, clearly mollycoddled throughout its minimal mileage. All of the rubber seals around the car remain fresh, soft and tear free showing little wear.

INTERIOR

The interior on this Stradale is equally as unique as the exterior with a multitude of different fabrics and materials that provide layers of depth in the cabin not seen on other examples.
Visible from the outside is the deep blue leather dash that is finished in contrasting cream stitching immediately drawing you in to the interior. The dual blue/cream colourway continues but only to the seats, lower dash and roll bar so not to overwhelm the cabin, soft blue leather is accentuated with contrasting cream stitching while cream leather sections finished with blue thread, a fabulous styling touch.
Dark grey alcantara covers the sill covers, A-pillars, rear bulk head and speaker box while glossy carbon fibre is used for the door cards, centre console and seat backs. A punched black leather steering wheel tops a multitude of materials that make this a very special Stradale indeed.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The engine is a work of art and provides the driver with an audible symphony of an exhaust note and the kind of performance that is unique to a race-ready car designed for road use. Carbon fibre trim that covers the engine bay is mark free and retains its gloss finish.
The F1 transmission produces lightning-quick changes through the 6-speed gearbox, incorporating two different configurations – ‘Sport’ and ‘Race’ – with corresponding damper and traction control settings.
Having just been serviced by Ferrari Main dealer H.R Owen including a belt change in September 16 along with a clutch replacement in 15 this car needs for nothing.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The car’s 19-inch Challenge wheels are in superb condition, and come wrapped in  Pirelli P Zero Rosso road tyres, replaced at 20k kms and as such have excellent tread remaining.
The braking system itself features yellow coloured calipers, aluminium brake carriers and lightweight carbon ceramic discs from Italian manufacturer Brembo, a package which delivers superb deceleration rates and excellent handling.
